Brad Pitt’s Family Drama Takes Painful New Turn in Court — Report

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Vivienne Jolie, has officially dropped her father’s surname after a Los Angeles judge approved the request. The decision marks another development in the former couple’s family story.

Vivienne Jolie legally removes Brad Pitt’s surname after Los Angeles judge approves petition

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Vivienne Jolie, has removed Brad Pitt’s surname after a Los Angeles Judge approved her petition. She changed her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie during a hearing on Monday. According to Page Six, Vivienne’s lawyer Peter Kenneth Levine appeared early at the hearing. Judge Virginia Keeny read out the names of people whose petitions to change their names have been approved at Los Angeles Superior Court’s Stanley Mosk Courthouse.

The judge said, “These are name change petitions, which are going to be granted. That means that I can read the information provided and sign a decree, and you’ll be able to get a copy of the decree in possibly one week in room 112 on the first floor of this building, the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. So if you hear your name, you can sign off, and you can get your paperwork in a week. I’m going to read both the last name and also the last four numbers of the case.”

Vivienne filed a petition in July, just a week after her 18th birthday celebration with brother Knox. During the petition, Vivienne cited personal reasons for dropping her surname.

She is not the only child who dropped the Pitt surname. Pitt has been facing similar reactions from his other children following his split from Angelina Jolie. In September, Zahara, 21, changed her name to Zahara Marley Jolie. Maddox, 25, also changed his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie. Shiloh, 20, was the first one to drop the Pitt surname. Knox also removed Pitt from his high school diploma.

The former couple shares six children, four adopted and two biological. After their 2016 split, they finalized their divorce in 2024.
