Ray Huger‘s remarks about Karen Huger’s sobriety have sparked tension in their marriage on The Real Housewives of Potomac. She also revealed how their intimacy has changed since she stopped drinking.

Karen Huger addresses intimacy struggles with Ray amid her sobriety journey

During the November 1 episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 11, Karen discussed how sobriety has affected her marriage. She said, “I decided that once I got sober, that I would love on Karen. And so that required I spend time with myself — not away from our marital home, but within the home.”

Although the Season 11 trailer suggested that the couple might be living separately, Karen revealed that they now sleep in different bedrooms. Later in the episode, the couple had an honest conversation about their marital problems. After suggesting that Ray had been working too much, Karen asked, “Are you avoiding me?”

Ray brushed off the question and suggested that Karen needed time to rediscover herself after her prison sentence. He added, “You have to spend time to try to, you know, become whoever you’re going to be, after going through that process.”

Karen insisted that she would remain herself. However, Ray questioned whether he still knew the woman she had become. He said, “Well, but who are you? A different Karen than, say, who you were a year and a half ago” (via Bravo).

The reality star also questioned whether her husband liked “sober Karen.” Ray suggested that Karen had been more entertaining before she stopped drinking. He also questioned whether her sobriety had changed their physical relationship.

However, Karen insisted that their intimacy problems had existed before her prison sentence. Ray admitted that he had expected their intimate relationship to improve after Karen returned home. Although he supported her sobriety, he also wondered whether she had found him more attractive when she was drinking.

Karen acknowledged that Ray had some adjusting to do but made it clear that she liked the person she had become. For now, their conversation highlights the adjustments both are navigating as Karen embraces sobriety.
