Jennifer Lopez is pushing back against rumors of a dispute with the director of her upcoming Netflix thriller. “The Last Mrs. Parrish” has been rocked by controversy that has pitted the actress against director Robert Zemeckis. Lopez, Zemeckis and Netflix have jointly denied claims that the two filmmakers are clashing over the movie’s final cut.
J.Lo shuts down director clash claims
TMZ reported that there are rumors that Lopez and the “Forrest Gump” director had a dispute regarding the upcoming psychological thriller. The alleged conflict has also drawn comparisons to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s disagreement over “It Ends With Us”.
The controversy started with reports that cited sources claiming that Lopez wanted more control in the post-production phase of the film. One Hollywood source alleged, “She fancies herself a filmmaker. It’s been testing terrible. Lopez panicked and has been in the editing room.”
However, Lopez, Zemeckis and Netflix issued a joint statement rejecting the report. “As we have said to Page Six, this reporting is categorically false. Any suggestion that the filmmakers are not working in unison is without merit,” the statement read.
Netflix also argued against speculation that the film had performed poorly during test screenings. The platform confirmed that the film had been testing well, particularly with Jennifer’s fans.
Lopez is producing and starring in “The Last Mrs. Parrish”, while Zemeckis directs the adaptation of the bestselling novel by Liv Constantine. The film follows a con artist who targets a wealthy couple. She hopes to take the wife’s place only to discover that their marriage is hiding dark secrets. The film is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2027.
The project adds to Lopez’s ongoing collaboration with the streaming platform. Earlier, her 2026 romantic comedy “Office Romance” also drew attention. This outlet had reported on the on-screen chemistry between Lopez and co-star Brett Goldstein.
For now, the platform has strongly refuted rumors as Lopez and Zemeckis continue working on the upcoming film.
