Nicholas Galitzine & Bill Skarsgård’s Bloody WWII Movie Gets Red-Band Trailer

Netflix has released a red-band trailer for The Mosquito Bowl. It teases an intense, violent look at the upcoming World War II drama from director Peter Berg.

Starring Bill Skarsgård, the movie explores the story of four college football stars in its latest trailer. The Mosquito Bowl also stars Nicholas Galitzine and Tom Francis, among others.

The official logline for the film reads, “Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, four of America’s top college football stars set their fame aside to enlist in the Marines. As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they’ll play in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history — a game that, for many, will be the last they ever play.”

What happens in The Mosquito Bowl trailer?

The Netflix movie’s trailer opens with Bob Bauman, played by Bill Skarsgård, reflecting on his childhood amid the war. “When I was a kid, I would get this feeling,” he says, as the following scenes offer glimpses of the battlefield, showing soldiers dying in brutal combat while fighting for their country.

The clip then teases the tragic story of four college football players whose dreams are ultimately cut short by the war. It also sheds light on the Mosquito Bowl, a football game played by service members ahead of the Battle of Okinawa.

Alongside Skarsgård, the narrative centers on Nicholas Galitzine as John McLaughry, Ray Nicholson as Tony Butkovich, and Tom Francis as Dave Schreiner.

The Mosquito Bowl’s ensemble cast also features Brent Comer, Dominic Bogart, Jack Ingram, Ella Newton, Peter Berg, Lola Bond, Stacy Clausen, Billy Smith, Steven Sammut, Blake Erickson, Claudia Ware, and Pat McAfee.

The World War II movie is based on Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Buzz Bissinger’s book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II.

Producers on the film include Berg, alongside Brian Grazer, and Alex Gayner. Ezra Emanuel, Buzz Bissinger, and Jeb Brody are serving as the executive producers.

The Mosquito Bowl will hit the theaters on October 30, 2026. It will later arrive on Netflix on November 25, 2026.
