Martha Stewart is known for many things, whether as a businesswoman, media personality, author, or lifestyle guru. With so many roles to her name, Stewart’s lifestyle is far from the typical 9-to-5 routine. Now, she is opening up about the realities of having it all and delivering a blunt reality check.
The lifestyle mogul insists balancing work and personal life simply doesn’t work
The media mogul recently appeared on SoFi’s Richer Lives podcast, where she discussed her lifestyle, billion-dollar company, Wall Street knowledge and more.
During the conversation, Martha Stewart also shared her thoughts on work-life balance. She insisted that trying to balance professional and personal life simply does not work.
“Just get that through your thick skulls. You can’t balance it, it doesn’t balance. You’re gonna get divorced if you’re going to get divorced. You’re going to get married three times if you’re going to get married three times. It just doesn’t work out,” Stewart said.
“This thing about balance, I don’t know who thought about that, but it just doesn’t work. Maybe infrequently, and I’m jealous of those people, but they’re all so boring,” she added.
This is not the first time Stewart has shared similar views. The businesswoman expressed a comparable opinion in 2023 when discussing remote work.
“You can’t possibly get everything done working three days a week in the office and two days remotely,” she said.
Stewart had also made her stance on work-life balance clear years earlier. In 2013, she said, “My life is my job, and my job is my life.”
The New Jersey-born media mogul has an estimated net worth of more than $400 million, reflecting decades of success across business, publishing and television.
Her romantic life, however, has taken a different path. Stewart has been married once and has had several high-profile relationships over the years. She is currently single and has previously spoken openly about dating, relationships and what she looks for in a partner.
Stewart’s latest comments suggest she has little interest in presenting success as perfectly balanced. Instead, she appears comfortable embracing the demanding lifestyle that has shaped her career for decades.
