Sacha Baron Cohen has revealed that Donald Trump was not pleased after being interviewed by his Ali G character. During a recent interview, the actor recalled Trump’s unexpected response to the encounter. He also explained how the President’s anger continued after the interview ended.

Sacha Baron Cohen has recalled Donald Trump’s angry reaction to an interview with Ali G during a live taping of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused.
Cohen began by describing how Trump kept him waiting at Trump Tower for approximately 40 minutes. Comparing the experience with his other interviews as Ali G, he told Horowitz, “As Ali G, I had the privilege of sitting with some of the smartest people in the world and some of the most powerful people in the world and all of them were punctual. Donald Trump kept us waiting for about 40 minutes.”
During the wait, Baron Cohen could hear Trump speaking to Rudy Giuliani on the phone. He recalled being intimidated by the president’s behavior and said he later learned that Trump had treated other people similarly. “And later on I heard that he used to do that with other people. It really was a power move,” the comedian explained.
The comedian said Trump seemed pleased to meet Bobin, whom he described as a “very handsome blonde Oxford educated” director. However, that enthusiasm disappeared when Trump discovered that Ali G was his interviewer.
Recalling the moment, Cohen said, “And he was very excited. This good-looking, you know, handsome upperclass English guy called James Bobin. And he goes, ‘Okay, let’s do the interview.’ And he goes, ‘No, that’s the interview.’ He looked down. I’m sitting there. I was like, ‘Yo.’ Immediately the face drops.”
Talking about the aftermath, Cohen explained, “I actually met a woman who was in the car with him after that interview, and he was apparently furious. He actually went out publicly a couple of times to criticize me. And in the end we used all those clips and used them to advertise another show that I did. So thank you President Trump.”
