Prince William reportedly gained a publicity edge over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after a surprise British television appearance. The Prince of Wales joined “The Graham Norton Show” to promote the Earthshot Prize ahead of its Mumbai ceremony.
A new PR source claimed the contrast with the Sussexes’ recent headlines was striking. The insider argued William looked “relaxed, approachable” and focused on a major cause, while Harry and Meghan remained under heavier personal scrutiny.
Prince William’s talk show appearance sparks comparisons with Harry and Meghan’s current image, per source
As per a RadarOnline report, William’s appearance prompted immediate PR comparisons. A public-relations source said, “The contrast between the two households could hardly be more striking.” The insider described William as “relaxed, approachable” and focused on “a major environmental initiative.” Meanwhile, they contrasted that coverage with difficult personal headlines surrounding Harry and Meghan.
Looking purely at media coverage, the source argued the royal family was “currently winning the publicity war.” However, Radar stressed there was no evidence William intended to capitalize on Meghan’s family difficulties.
More specifically, Prince William made his surprise appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” on October 23. He joined Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, Robert Irwin, and later singer Jorja Smith. The studio audience reportedly gasped when William appeared. Additionally, the PR source called it “exactly the kind of publicity the monarchy wants.”
They said William could “engage with popular culture” while drawing attention to serious subjects. The insider added that he appeared “accessible without undermining his position as the future king.” Meanwhile, William discussed Earthshot’s focus on environmental solutions and optimism. The 2026 awards will take place in Mumbai on November 17.
Still, the insider framed the comparison as a difference in public image, not an orchestrated palace campaign. “William and Harry have taken very different paths,” the source said. They added that their public images “increasingly reflect that divide.” Prince William was shown promoting a major environmental project through mainstream television, the insider noted. By comparison, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continued facing scrutiny around family relationships.
Yet the source cautioned against linking William’s positive coverage to Meghan’s personal difficulties. They said it would be “wrong to suggest the palace orchestrated or welcomed” those circumstances. For now, the reported “publicity war” remained the PR source’s interpretation of contrasting headlines.
