Prince William’s plans for a leaner monarchy could reportedly mean that Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte may not get royal homes of their own. Like his father, King Charles, William is making efforts to reduce the number of working royals.
This could also lead to a reconsideration of how royal properties are used. While Prince George is expected to become monarch after William, Charlotte and Louis may potentially not get to reside in a palace of their own.
Prince William’s monarchy plans could leave kids without royal residences, per source
Prince William’s future plans for the monarchy could reportedly leave his younger children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, without royal residences of their own. A source told Radar Online that there has been growing discussion about the expenses associated with royal life. William understands that being a member of the Royal Family does not necessarily mean enjoying all the privileges that previous generations had.
The source also noted that the public expects transparency about how royal properties are maintained and who resides in them. The Royal Family is also aware that the public expects answers. As a result, keeping historic residences available for the Royal Family members who do not carry out substantial public duties could be difficult to justify and may invite criticism, the source added.
The insider continued, “William may ultimately decide that the best way to protect the monarchy’s reputation is to make sure its privileges are more closely connected to the work individual members actually perform.”
Hence, it would not be surprising if Charlotte and Louis eventually built their homes outside the palace, the source suggested. They could pursue independent careers, explore their own interests, and build homes that suit their lifestyles.
William would reportedly need to strike a balance between being a father and preparing for his future role as monarch, ensuring that his children can enjoy their lives without creating expectations of privileges that may no longer be sustainable.
