After Street Fighter, Hulu Is Bringing Back This Overlooked $240M Video Game Movie

Since its release on October 16, the Street Fighter movie has taken over theaters, while an overlooked 2016 video game action film is all set for its streaming debut on Hulu next month. Directed by Justin Kurzel, this movie failed to become a major financial success at the time of its release.

Assassin’s Creed to stream on Hulu next month

According to the latest press release, Hulu has announced its upcoming streaming titles, including the 2016 Assassin’s Creed movie. It will stream on the platform on November 1, 2026.

The movie will stream for its 10th anniversary, which falls on December 21.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, the Assassin’s Creed movie featured a stellar cast including Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Irons, Callum Turner, Michael Kenneth Williams, and many more.

The movie had a massive production budget of $125 million, which rose to an estimated $200 million after including marketing and other costs. It opened with $10 million at the box office and went on to collect $54 million domestically. Fassbender’s movie earned close to $186 million in the international market, which took its lifetime collection to $240.6 million. However, the movie was still a financial disaster, with reports that the makers lost close to $100 million.

On Rotten Tomatoes, it got a low score of 18 percent on the Tomatometer based on critic reviews. Its score on the Popcornmeter was slightly better at 42 percent based on audience reviews.

While speaking to Movie’n’co in 2017, Fassbender shared why he felt the movie didn’t work. He stated that the Assassin’s Creed movie didn’t feel “ideal.” The actor called the box-office bomb a missed opportunity, saying he would wait to see what Ubisoft decides next. Fassbender revealed that he wasn’t aware of any plans regarding a sequel and admitted that the movie could’ve been made “more entertaining” (via MovieWeb).
