Shaun the Sheep 3 finally has a digital and Blu-ray release date. The third feature film in the Shaun the Sheep franchise, Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, is the latest entry from Aardman Animations.
Per the latest updates, the threequel arrives on digital on October 23, 2026. It will be followed by its release on Blu-ray and DVD three months later, on January 26, 2027, from GKIDS, with distribution by Radial Entertainment. Both editions will include bonus features, including Behind the Scenes with the Creators, Scene Breakdowns: The Lab and Meeting the Vet, and Crafting a Poster, along with teasers and trailers.
The Beast of Mossy Bottom is a charming Halloween story about the latest adventures of the residents of Mossy Bottom Farm as they look forward to the spooky season. Their plans are disrupted when the clumsy Farmer destroys the Flock’s beloved pumpkin patch. To solve the problem, Shaun takes on the role of a mad scientist.
With the Farmer missing and a wild beast roaming the woods of Mossingham, the film sets up a spooky family adventure.

What did Steve Cox and Matthew Walker say about the new Shaun the Sheep movie?
Filmmaker Steve Cox and Matthew Walker recently got together in an interview with ComingSoon’s Tyler Treese to talk about Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom. The duo talked about how this film is new and different, engaging people without constant chatter and dialogue in the Shaun the Sheep universe, and finding the right balance to have those horror overtones but never get too scary and keep it family-friendly.
Remarking about the tone of the film, Walker said, “Tonally, Were-Rabbit was much more gothic and a bit darker, whereas we drew more upon sort of ’80s adventure movies in terms of the tonal feel of our film.”
During the interview, Cox also commented on it feeling like a particularly full-circle moment for him to finally direct a Shaun the Sheep movie, since he was an animator on the first film. He said, “It’s brilliant. Yeah, I really do feel privileged because now I’ve animated and directed on Shaun. I’ve directed on a feature, a half-hour, and a series as well. So I’m very, very used to Shaun the Sheep. I do love working with him, and I loved working as an animator on that first film… That was great to have that. To come to a point where I’m directing a film is brilliant.”
