A new rumor suggests Avengers: Doomsday will give Anthony Mackie plenty of character moments. Speculation suggests Sam Wilson will be in more than a few fight scenes in the movie.
Scooper Cosmic Alex Perez has stated that Marvel will be featuring Sam Wilson in no fewer than three major fights. It will also be clear that Sam Wilson is the MCU’s current Captain America.
In a Discord Q&A, Perez revealed, “Sam is going to have multiple fight scenes in Doomsday, during at least 3 action sequences in the film. He will certainly get his moments to shine as Captain America. Also, the film makes it clear. Even though Steve Rogers returns, he’s just Steve. Captain America is Sam Wilson. Plain and simple.”
However, Perez isn’t an official Marvel Studios source, so all information from the scooper should be taken with caution.

Steve Rogers’ return adds another layer to Sam Wilson’s role in Avengers: Doomsday
Steve Rogers handed Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson his shield in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame. Steve’s decision to stay behind with Peggy took on a new meaning after Avengers Endgame: Encore. In the new movie, an added scene showed Loki visiting Steve Rogers and Peggy as part of the TVA, offering them his help.
When Steve Rogers’ return in the next Avengers movie was announced, fans wondered what it meant for Sam Wilson’s Captain America. Perez’s scoop suggests that Wilson will remain Captain America, while Steve will not return to his former mantle to fight Doctor Doom.
However, Steve’s presence in Doomsday without being referred to as Cap reinforces that the Captain America mantle now belongs to Sam, who can choose to keep or pass it on. Steve Rogers is just Steve, a super soldier who’s not currently active with the Avengers in the main MCU timeline.
