Recently, the American stylist appeared on the Aspire With Emma Grede podcast, where he discussed his career and clients. During the conversation, Roach discussed the challenges he faced while styling actress and singer Keke Palmer.
Roach said, “I couldn’t get it right. She knows exactly who she is and what she wanted. And I couldn’t deliver, and I’m not mad at that.”
According to the stylist, the actress’ pregnancy played a major role in their differing creative visions. At the time, the 33-year-old actress hadn’t publicly confirmed her pregnancy. Roach said Palmer wanted him to dress her in ways that would conceal her growing baby bump. However, his creative instincts pushed him in the opposite direction.
Roach wanted to celebrate her pregnancy through fashion and create new looks that embraced her changing body. However, Nope fame wasn’t ready to share that part of her life with the public just yet.
Law Roach jokingly suggested that Palmer was lying about her pregnancy. However, he acknowledged that keeping the news private was the singer’s choice. He also recognized that she had every right to announce her pregnancy on her own terms and timeline.
For context, Keke Palmer hired Law Roach as her stylist in 2022. At the time, she was in the early stages of her pregnancy. However, their professional relationship ended later that year due to creative differences. The split came before Palmer gave birth to her son. Before beginning their stylist-client relationship, the two worked together as judges on Season 3 of HBO Max’s Legendary. The season aired between May and June 2022.
