Prince Harry Trying To ‘Drive a Wedge’ Between King Charles & Prince William — Expert

Prince Harry has sparked fresh controversy with his latest comments about the royal family. His remarks raise questions about who is blocking reconciliation. Meanwhile, King Charles and Prince William appeared together at a royal engagement, prompting one expert to question the timing.

Expert criticizes timing of Prince Harry’s GQ interview coinciding with royal engagement

According to the royal expert Matt Wilkinson, As King Charles welcomed the Sultan of Oman at Windsor Castle, Prince William stood alongside his father. But the royal engagement coincided with Prince Harry’s GQ interview, where he said he wanted to reconcile with his family and suggested some people were unwilling to resolve their differences. The timing prompted criticism from a royal commentator, who interpreted Harry’s remarks as a possible reference to his elder brother. The suggestion that William might be among those unwilling to reconcile raised fresh questions about the brothers’ already strained relationship, particularly as they remain publicly distant despite their father’s prominent role in bringing the family together for official engagements.

The Sussexes, however, pushed back against the interpretation, maintaining that Harry’s comments were made in a general context and were “absolutely not intended as a swipe” at any particular family member. Harry did not explicitly name William or Charles in the interview.

Nevertheless, the criticism reflects the continuing sensitivity surrounding Prince Harry, King Charles, and Prince William. Harry’s relationship with his father has also remained a subject of speculation, with reports suggesting that the two have not met since the Duke returned to the UK nearly two months ago. Harry also reportedly did not inform the King of his plans to move back when they met over the summer.

If Harry is attempting to drive a wedge between King Charles and Prince William, royal commentators argue the effort is unlikely to succeed. The Duke of Sussex has yet to publicly apologize for the explosive claims made in his 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, his Netflix docuseries, and his 2023 memoir, Spare. As Charles and William present a unified front at palace duties, palace insiders emphasize that any prospect of reconciliation will require genuine private contrition rather than continued public appeals through the press.
