Tom Arnold revealed that Chuck Lorre once apologized to him for derailing two major opportunities. This apology came amid an ongoing feud between Lorre and Arnold regarding their 1988 sitcom Roseanne.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Arnold revealed that Lorre approached him to “make amends” for bad-mouthing him to “every person in town” for the past 10 years. When Arnold inquired about what Lorre meant by “every person,” the latter revealed that a high-powered executive at Warner Bros. wanted to do two shows with Arnold.
However, these projects were derailed by Lorre, who threatened the executive by saying, “If he does those, I will never work for Warner Bros. again.” Arnold continued, “He kinda had a smirk. He goes, ‘I just thought we’re supposed to make amends if we do something wrong.’ I was stunned.”
Their feud started when Lorre claimed that Roseanne staff writers were forced to write scripts and falsely put Arnold’s name on them. Lorre also alleged that Arnold and his former wife Roseanne Barr created a hostile working environment. However, these were denied by Arnold, who called his co-writer a liar for these claims.
Tom Arnold once approached Chuck Lorre to make amends for their feud
Although Lorre intervened in Arnold’s career with Warner Bros., the latter found an opportunity to make amends for their feud. Days after the confrontation, Arnold was at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank for a charity event. During this event, he came across Lorre’s work office.
In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Arnold shared, “I ran over and knocked on the door. ‘Hey, I just wanted to see how things are going. Listen, I got an idea, man. I appreciate you making amends. You know what we could do is, I could do an episode of your show [Cybill], and then everybody would know [we’re] all square. I’d feel better, you know?’ I didn’t say, ‘Because you cost me several TV shows.’ But he was like, ‘Tom, I don’t like to mix business and sobriety.’”
Lorre has yet to comment on Arnold’s remark, according to the source.
