More than two decades after Star Wars: The Phantom Menace introduced him as young Anakin Skywalker, Jake Lloyd is thanking fans who have stood by him over the years. The former child star, now 37, shared a brief but heartfelt message: “I really appreciate your time.”
Jake Lloyd thanks ‘Star Wars’ fans in rare video with Daniel Logan
In an Instagram video posted on October 14, Lloyd stood next to Daniel Logan. Logan, who later joined the Star Wars franchise as Boba Fett in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones, began by saying, We want to send a special message to each and every one of our Star Wars fans to let you know ‘thank you so much.’”
Very, very much so,” said Lloyd. Wearing a Sonic the Hedgehog shirt and a rosary, he added, “I really appreciate your time.” Another post showed the pair fooling around together, with their arms and legs draped over each other. Logan addressed the bullying he and Lloyd experienced after starring in the popular Star Wars franchise as children. He said adults had targeted them with insults both online and in person since they were young.
Fans quickly took to the comments to share their messages. One of them wrote, “You both did amazing, especially at your ages. You know that, because your performances are still being seen on the big screen today, 20 years later. Any grown adult who told you otherwise was just jealous. Only love for both of you.”
Another fan commented, “Jake is one of my heroes; I can’t stress enough how much he was part of my youth by bringing to life such an iconic character. Thank you as well to you, Daniel, for eternizing the most famous bounty hunter in the galaxy.” One more said, “I’m so glad you guys are doing well. It means [a lot] to the community.”
In March 2023, Lloyd, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2008, experienced a psychotic break while his mother was driving him home from McDonald’s. He subsequently entered an inpatient treatment program. His mother, Lisa Lloyd, later shared details about his condition with Scripps News. She said, “Jake started having some trouble in high school. He started talking about ‘realities.’ He didn’t know if he was in this reality or a different reality.”
Lloyd later provided an update on his recovery after his 2023 psychotic break. He revealed that he had completed an 18-month stay at an inpatient mental health facility and was doing “pretty good.”
