Following the death of Breaking Bad star RJ Mitte, his mother has now shared more information about her last interactions with him. The actor died by suicide earlier this week at the age of 34. In a new interview, Mitte’s mother, Dyna, recounts calling her son and later finding his body at his home on October 12.
Speaking with NBC News, Dyna revealed that the past weekend had been “tough” for the actor. When Mitte didn’t pick up her calls on Monday, Dyna visited his house to deliver his lunch. When asked if he had left behind any notes to indicate the state of his mental health, Dyna replied in the negative. “There was nothing left behind. No notes,” she said. “I think that’s the hardest thing right now.”
“Bryan Cranston reached out to me,” Dyna said. “We talked. It was an incredible, emotional conversation for both of us. Bryan truly treated him like a son.”
RJ Mitte’s mother shares what she believes led to his death
Dyna Mitte also told the outlet that RJ had been in a tumultuous relationship with his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez. However, she added that she didn’t “know all the details” and refused to comment further on the matter. She also told NBC News that she thinks it was a “spur of the moment” decision (via Entertainment Weekly).
A related report from TMZ had a source allege that Dyna did not get along with Suarez. The report also claimed that Suarez had given RJ an ultimatum of either choosing her or keeping a relationship with his mother.
The rest of the interview sees Dyna praising her son’s career and philanthropic work. Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition he shared with his character, Walter White Jr., on Breaking Bad. Several stars from the show, including Cranston, Giancarlo Esposito, and Aaron Paul, paid tribute to Mitte during the week.
