Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Branded ‘Backdoor Royals’ Amid Backlash — Author

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly facing criticism for returning to the royal spotlight. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are back in Britain after spending nearly six years in California and have resumed making public appearances in the UK. Amid their return, an author has criticized the couple for carrying out public engagements in Britain despite no longer being working royals.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry accused by author of ‘walking back’ in the royal door

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly been accused of “walking back” in the royal door. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to Britain for an extended stay after living in Montecito for six years. Following their return, a letter was reportedly issued on behalf of King Charles to clarify the Sussexes’ status. It stated that they are “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.” The letter also reinforced that they cannot use their HRH titles.

Amid this, journalist Robert Jobson wrote on his Substack, The Royal Editor, that Harry and Meghan would be visiting Nottingham on Thursday. He also stated that they would visit the Community Recording Studio in St. Ann’s and the Himmah food bank to learn more about the Hubb Community Kitchen.

Jobson noted that the couple’s representatives refer to these activities as “engagements.” He argued that, since Harry and Meghan are no longer working royals, describing their activities this way makes it appear as though they are resuming their former royal roles. He also believes that their multiple public appearances contradict the spirit of the monarch’s decision regarding their royal status.

Meanwhile, as the couple continue with their charitable and other endeavors, the committee is reportedly reviewing Harry’s security arrangements once again. Jobson added that they have “just walked back in the door.” Although they are no longer senior working royals, they continue to carry out public engagements that resemble royal duties.
