Melania Trump’s Adviser Claims She Has a Direct Line to Putin’s Team

An adviser to Donald Trump‘s wife claims Melania Trump has built a direct channel to Vladimir Putin‘s team, crediting her with helping return 34 Ukrainian children to their families. Marc Beckman made the claim during a podcast interview, arguing the first lady’s quiet diplomacy warrants public recognition.

Speaking on Scott Jennings’ podcast, Beckman said Donald Trump’s wife “has a direct line with leadership at both Russia and Ukraine” and “leads all of these negotiations” tied to the reunifications. He noted the returns happened across “six different events: six different moments in time.”

Beckman also said Melania deserves “some level of formal recognition” for the effort. He added, “I wonder if anybody out there is going to formally recognize this work with some sort of an award or something because it really is incredible.”

Further, describing the first lady as “extremely private,” explaining that she doesn’t release footage of the reunions. “But we have access to it, and we see it,” he said. “We respect everybody’s privacy, and it’s a very emotional situation, as you can imagine (via The Daily Beast).”

Jennings agreed the discretion sets her apart. “Well, she deserves it, and the fact that she doesn’t really do it in front of the cameras—there’s no fanfare around it, she does it because of her heart for it—is really remarkable,” he said. Melania Trump has said her husband hand-delivered a letter from her to Vladimir Putin in August 2025.

In an October 2025 speech, she described the response: “Since President Putin received my letter last August, he responded in writing, signaling a willingness to engage with me directly, and outlining details regarding the Ukrainian children residing in Russia.”

Her representative has since worked directly with President Putin’s team, maintaining “an open channel of communications.”

Ukrainian authorities estimate nearly 20,000 children were transferred to Russia during the war. A UN commission found in March that Russian authorities had deported or forcibly transferred over 1,200 children since before the February 2022 invasion. The conclusion of the pattern amounted to crimes against humanity.
