Ella Langley appeared to take a swipe at The Voice coach Riley Green by describing him as “typical.” Her pointed remark came after Green appeared to suggest that he played a significant role in her rise to fame.
Ella Langley says she “didn’t love” Riley Green’s remark about her success
The two country stars have teamed up on several chart-topping hits. They have released two hit duets, You Look Like You Love Me in 2024, which got over 450 million streams on Spotify, and Don’t Mind If I Do in 2025. The latter track gave the duo another No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The RIAA also awarded it platinum certification. Langley also opened for Green during his Ain’t My Last Rodeo tour in 2024 and his Damn Country Music tour in 2025.
Green has now joined The Voice as a coach for the first time in Season 30. During the blind auditions, he met Ferryn & Brinkley, a sister duo who worked as performers at Dolly Parton’s Dollywood in East Tennessee. While speaking with them, he remarked, “I’ve had some success with duets.” Green went on to mention Langley, saying there was a “girl that reminded me a lot of y’all.” He added that he had taken her on tour with him before noting, “Her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well.”
Langley seemingly took issue with Green’s apparent suggestion that he helped drive her success. The 27-year-old, who shot to stardom with her solo singles including Choosin’ Texas, made her feelings known while chatting with fans on Instagram Live.
One fan directly addressed Green’s remarks, asking Langley, “When Riley took credit for your success on The Voice, did that rub you the wrong way?!” In response, the country singer said, “Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical.” She also unfollowed Green on social media.
