In a conversation with Hello! magazine, Ailsa Anderson, a former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth, shared insights on how the Queen perceived Middleton’s family. She said, “The Queen always wanted her children and grandchildren to be happy, and she recognized what a huge support Carole and Michael Middleton were to William and how they welcomed him with open arms into their family.”

Anderson said that the Queen observed that the Middleton family provided Kate and William with certain qualities. She added that the Queen had seen the marriages of three of her four children fail, but it was nice for her to see that William was joining a family that believed in sticking together in tough times.

Russell Myers, who wrote the biography William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, mentioned Middleton’s parents were a good support for the Waleses. He said, “The Middleton family, who had become a constant presence in their lives, was crucial to this. William appreciated their involvement beyond measure, enjoying their company and the normalcy of the environment, whatever the circumstances. More room to breathe,’ he once told an aide.” He added that Middleton’s parents visited Norfolk and used to stay over the weekends, also providing additional support to their daughter’s growing family.

William and Kate met in 2001 while studying at St. Andrews University. They got engaged in 2010 and tied the knot the following year.
