Marvel‘s upcoming X-Men reboot could feature a familiar character if the latest casting rumor proves true. Moira MacTaggert, the Scottish geneticist and longtime ally of Professor Charles Xavier in the comics, could reportedly appear in the film.
The rumor comes as Marvel builds its cast for the upcoming X-Men film. Caleb Williams (@KnightGambit) of Knight Edge Media recently shared the rumor on X.
“Small Tidbit….Moira MacTaggert is expected to have a tiny role in the #XMen reboot. Casting is underway,” he wrote. However, Marvel has not confirmed the rumor.
The studio is also reportedly interested in having Hugh Jackman continue playing Wolverine after Avengers: Secret Wars, although this claim remains unconfirmed. Even if MacTaggert’s role is small, her presence could be relevant to the story, particularly with Mister Sinister involved.
Who has been cast in Marvel’s X-Men reboot so far?
The X-Men reboot has begun taking shape, with several actors reportedly attached to major roles. Sadie Sink is set to play Jean Grey, while Kit Connor will portray Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.
Christopher Abbott will play Professor Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X, the telepathic founder of the X-Men. Samara Weaving is reportedly playing Emma Frost, a powerful telepath who has been both an antagonist and an ally in the comics. Maya Boyd will play Storm, who can control the weather, while Inde Navarrette will portray Rogue, whose powers allow her to absorb others’ abilities and memories through touch.
Asa Germann is also joining the film as Angel, the winged mutant Warren Worthington III. Adam Driver will play Mister Sinister, a geneticist and major X-Men villain obsessed with creating a superior mutant race.
Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts, is leading the project, with Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo writing the script. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028.
Despite the growing cast, Marvel has not announced casting for Moira MacTaggert. Her reported involvement remains a rumor rather than a confirmed casting decision.
