Misan Harriman recently remarked that “hate sells” while talking about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. According to Zeteo UK, Harriman and Sangita Myska discussed the conversation around the Sussexes in a video shared on Instagram. It reportedly drew more than 5,900 likes and hundreds of comments. Asked about the root of the toxicity, Harriman said that it comes from many things. “These are people that have not dropped bombs on anyone,” he said.

He recalled that Harry had to walk next to his mother’s coffin at 12 years old. Harriman also said that Harry had to receive flowers and smile while “wondering where his mother is.” He added that the couple’s children deserve to have their parents there when they become adults.

Furthermore, Harriman claimed that Meghan was targeted after her miscarriage. “They turned the knife,” he said, pointing to what he called “misogynoir,” which he described as the intersection of hatred for women and Black people, especially Black women. According to him, he received messages every day from people who say how “they would harm this family.” He said that the messages make it sound like the Sussex couple was “serial killers.”

Meanwhile, Harriman claimed that the hate around Harry and Meghan has been fueled by people who have never met the couple. He alleged that some of them “pay their mortgages by writing books about people they have never met.” Others, he said, have only seen the Sussexes from a distance but are billed as expert royal correspondents. “It’s a joke,” he said.

Harriman also pointed to greed. “Hate sells,” he said, adding that it feeds an algorithm designed for that. He claimed that there is also a healthy dose of “good old-fashioned misogyny” and racism. According to Harriman, what Harry has faced is “industrial scale abuse.”
