Tom Welling has revealed that his time on “Smallville” included an unexpected encounter with co-star John Glover involving a fake nude photograph. The actor recalled the story at New York Comic Con, explaining how Glover approached him with the image and requested his autograph.
Tom Welling once signed a fake nude photo of himself
Tom Welling has shared an unusual story about an encounter with his Smallville co-star John Glover, who once asked him to autograph a fake nude picture of the actor. Welling recounted the incident during New York Comic Con, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Glover played Lionel Luthor, the father of Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor, on Smallville. According to Welling, Glover approached him in his makeup trailer and presented the picture. “John came into my makeup trailer one time with a big smile on his face. And he goes, ‘I’m so happy to see you.’ I was like, ‘Why?’ He’s like, ‘I have a picture I’d like you to sign.’ And it was a picture from the internet that somebody had made of me completely naked,” he said.
According to Welling, Glover then asked whether the person in the picture was really him. The actor decided not to reveal the truth and instead agreed to sign the image. The actor noted, “He thought it was so cute. He’s like, ‘Is this really you?’ I’m like, ‘Yep.’ And I signed it for him.”
The story comes shortly after Welling experienced an accidental exposure of his own on social media. On Friday, ahead of his New York Comic Con appearance, he uploaded an Instagram Story showing the view from his hotel window. However, the glass reflected his naked body. Welling captioned the post, “Hello NYCC,” before removing it around 10 hours later.
The actor subsequently attended the convention, where he reunited with his Smallville castmates to mark the show’s 25th anniversary.
