The Prince and Princess of Wales visited the store to learn more about a job program supporting efforts to tackle youth homelessness. They met a young woman who secured employment through an initiative created by William’s Homewards organization.
During the visit, Middleton helped little girls purchase candy and chatted with customers as she worked at the cash register. Meanwhile, William joined IKEA food manager Seamus McBrearty, who later praised the experience, saying, “It was good fun. I think he enjoyed it.”
The royal couple also had a lighthearted moment when William spotted a decorated Christmas tree in the store (via HELLO). The Prince of Wales remarked, “October the ninth for a Christmas tree?” before adding, “That is getting it in early!”
William and Kate are keeping themselves occupied as senior working royals as controversies about the royal family continue to make headlines. William’s uncle, Charles Spencer’s, published a memoir about Princess Diana, which is causing a stir because of its contents. Spencer has harshly criticized the royal family and King Charles for allegedly mistreating Diana while she was married into the royal family.
As per PEOPLE, Spencer informed both the princes about the book at “exactly the same time.” However, as per Heat World, the Prince of Wales has branded both his uncle and his brother, Prince Harry, as “traitors.”
As per the outlet, Middleton is helping her husband navigate the emotionally difficult situation. She is urging the Prince of Wales not to give in to the provocation by Harry or his uncle and to focus on his goal of becoming the future king.
