Now, sales of the Christian calendar have reportedly soared, giving Markle’s critics another reason to celebrate.

Meghan Markle’s critics’ Advent calendar sales spike to record levels amid controversy, per report

Sales of the Advent calendar promoted by Meghan Markle’s critics reportedly continue to rise amid the controversy surrounding her holiday offering. Markle recently launched her own Advent calendar in collaboration with Compartés. Priced at $148, the box features 24 handcrafted chocolates, each inspired by her lifestyle brand As Ever’s signature spreads.

News of the launch quickly spread and attracted considerable attention. While some users supported the new offering, others were critical of its price. One such critic, Reverend Daniel French, suggested that instead of spending lavishly on the Duchess’s holiday collection, people could consider purchasing The Leprosy Mission’s Real Advent Calendar at a much lower price.

He wrote in a post on X, “But for £5.99 you can pre order a Christian Advent Calendar with fairtrade chocolate from the Meaningful Chocolate Company. Donation is made to Leprosy Mission. Includes little booklet on the meaning of Christmas.”

The post attracted criticism from some users, with several defending Markle’s brand and pointing out that not everyone was its target audience. However, a recent report by GB News suggested that sales of the reverend’s Advent calendar have continued to surge.

The interest has reportedly extended beyond the UK, reaching the US as well. Many people have also thanked the reverend for highlighting an opportunity to support those living with leprosy around the world.

Amanda Norman, Chief Executive of the Leprosy Mission Shop, also praised Reverend Dafor for highlighting the lives of people affected by leprosy. She noted that Christmas is all about showing compassion and remembering those who are often overlooked. While thanking Rev. Daniel for drawing attention to the cause, she also spoke positively about the Sussexes, describing them as very “charity-minded” and acknowledging their support for the organization’s work.
