The documentary will reportedly highlight the brave side of the former Princess of Wales and challenge the long-standing narrative that she was lonely.
‘Diana Unheard’ ‘tells a story of an incredibly brave woman who had agency,’ claims Kerene Barefield
The new documentary on Princess Diana, titled “Diana Unheard,” will reportedly challenge the narrative surrounding her. Plus, the documentary will reportedly cover some of the topics explored by Charles Spencer in his new memoir about Diana. The tapes include recordings made in 1991 by Dr. James Colthurst, a close friend of Diana’s.
Andrew Morton used the tapes for his 1992 biography titled “Diana: Her True Story.” However, many of the audio recordings have remained unheard and will now be reportedly featured in the documentary.
Kerene Barefield, the creative director of Love Monday TV, told Deadline that the documentary would give Diana a voice and reframe the narrative surrounding her. Barefield explained that Diana was often portrayed as sad and lonely. She added that much of her story was shaped by what was shown in the media. She added, “These tapes don’t tell that story at all. They tell a story of an incredibly brave woman who had agency and knew what she wanted and how she was going to get to it.”
Three decades after Diana’s death, the tapes will reportedly allow the world to hear her thoughts in her own voice. The documentary is set to be released on August 31, 2027.
