A new horror movie starring Ron Perlman is set against the backdrop of a marriage celebration. The first look at Renew has now been revealed as the horror film takes audiences to a secluded Montana ranch where a couple hopes to leave their troubled past behind.
The film also marks an on-screen reunion between Theo Rossi and Perlman, who previously worked together on Sons of Anarchy and Come With Me. According to Deadline, filming recently wrapped on Renew. The film begins as an intimate love story before turning into visceral horror.
Rossi is also known for his roles in Marvel’s Luke Cage, The Penguin, Carry-On, and Emily the Criminal. Rossi co-wrote the screenplay with director Tommy DeNucci and produced the film with Diana Hull and longtime producing partner Nicholas Carmona.
“What excited Tommy and me most was building the film around two people with a shared history who are trying to find their way back to each other,” Rossi said.

Renew follows a husband and wife who return to the Montana guest ranch where they were married to recommit to their relationship. They hope the trip will give them a chance to start over. Instead, the wife mysteriously disappears, forcing her husband to confront the life he once tried to escape.
As he searches for her, he discovers a hidden evil beneath the ranch’s idyllic exterior. DeNucci said the filmmakers wanted audiences to first fall in love with Randy and Liz and feel that their relationship was genuine before everything began to unravel.
The cast also includes Rachelle Goulding, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Allison Dunbar, Sam Daly, Danny Rivera, Rebecca Creskoff, Darko Ostojic, Bonnie Gayle Sparks, Barron Boedecker and Chris Wilks.
DeNucci previously directed Rossi in Vault and Play Dirty. Production took place in Red Lodge and Roberts, Montana.
Diana Hull said the cast and crew’s commitment was crucial to bringing the film to life, while DeNucci praised the ensemble for exceeding his expectations. Rossi said the story combines hope, humor, and heart with the weight of the characters’ pasts before putting their relationship in danger. No release date has been announced for Renew yet.
