Stephen King turned a routine stop at the pump into a sharp message for Donald Trump. The horror author said he paid $5.32 per gallon for premium gasoline. He then used the gas bill to criticize the president over rising fuel costs. King also linked the price he paid to the ongoing Iran war. His comments come as gasoline prices remain elevated nationwide and energy costs continue to draw political attention.
Stephen King attacks Donald Trump over rising gas prices and Iran war
Stephen King shared the complaint on X after filling up his car Sunday. “I just paid $5.32/gallon for hi-test this morning,” he wrote, according to Benzinga.
King then noted that he could afford the higher bill, while many other Americans could not. He followed that by directing a profanity-laced message at Donald Trump and telling the president where he could “stuff” the war.
The post attracted attention because King has criticized Trump repeatedly over the years. This time, however, he centered his criticism on everyday fuel costs and the financial burden he believes higher prices place on Americans.
King’s $5.32 price was also above the national average for premium gasoline. According to Benzinga, AAA data showed premium gasoline averaged $5.27 per gallon on Oct. 4, while regular gasoline averaged $4.37 and diesel averaged $6.34.
The Iran war has remained part of the debate over rising fuel prices. In September, Trump described higher fuel costs as “a very inexpensive price” to pay for what the United States had done in Iran.
Trump has since continued to discuss the factors behind higher fuel costs. In comments reported on Oct. 5, he pointed to disruptions involving Russian oil refineries and U.S. refinery closures while arguing that the Iran conflict was not solely responsible for the increase.
King, however, placed responsibility directly on Trump in his post. He did not offer a detailed economic argument about oil markets or supply. Instead, he used his own gas bill to make a political point about affordability.
The author has made similar Stephen King-Trump comments before. Earlier this year, he sent another blunt message to Trump during a dispute involving Jimmy Kimmel.
For now, King’s latest message adds another celebrity criticism to the wider debate over fuel prices, the Iran war and the cost of living.
