A$AP Rocky’s Latest Move Could Change One Student’s Future

A$AP Rocky is giving one future college student a major reason to chase a dream. The rapper and actor has created a new scholarship tied to the Roc Nation School at Long Island University. The award could help one first-time freshman earn a degree without paying tuition. It also gives the student a chance to learn at a school built around music, sports, and entertainment.

Long Island University announced Rocky’s four-year, full-tuition scholarship on October 6. The school said the award will go to one student entering the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment as a first-time freshman in Fall 2027. Applications are open now and close on December 15, 2026. Students can apply through apply.liu.edu/rn.

According to Variety, Rocky explained why he wanted to create the opportunity. “I’m a big believer in creating your own lane and giving people the opportunity to do the same,” he said in the announcement. Many young people have “ideas, ambition and something important to say,” he added. Rocky said the scholarship will help one student “turn that vision into something real.”

The scholarship also adds Rocky to a group of stars who support students at the school. DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, and NBA All-Star LaMelo Ball have also created scholarships there. Grammy-winning engineer and producer Young Guru has done the same. Young Guru also serves as director of the Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production program.

The Roc Nation School began enrolling students at LIU in Fall 2021. The school combines classroom learning with hands-on opportunities that can help students gain practical experience and industry connections. It also connects academic learning with real-world opportunities across the entertainment industry and offers Roc Nation Hope Scholarships to 25% of enrolled students. Hope Scholars are academically competitive, New York-based first-time freshmen who demonstrate the highest financial need.
