John Cena’s WWE Legacy Led to a Perfect Matchbox Movie Set Moment With Jessica Biel’s Kid

John Cena got to relive his WWE legacy while filming Matchbox: The Movie with Jessica Biel. While working on the action-comedy directed by Sam Hargrave, Cena’s stint as a WWE Superstar led to a memorable on-set moment with Biel’s 6-year-old son.

During a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jessica got candid about working with the 17-time WWE World Champion. Meyers told Biel, “I would imagine, as well, John Cena, to children of the age yours are, he probably resonates a great deal.” To this, the actress agreed, saying, “They were excited about John Cena.”

Continuing, Biel explained, “He’s so nice, by the way. And he’s so sweet to my kids. And every time they would come to set, my 6-year-old would be like, ‘Where is he, Mom?’ And he’d literally be like right here. He’s right here. ‘But where is he?'”

This interaction seemed to confuse the actor, who wondered why her son was acting as if “his brain just malfunctioned.” Inevitably, the moment brought Cena’s WWE persona back to mind when Biel’s son’s reaction turned his famous “You Can’t See Me” catchphrase into a real-life joke.

Cena’s most famous catchphrase has reached an entirely new generation

Cena created his iconic “You Can’t See Me” catchphrase as a playground dare with his brother. The phrase and its accompanying hand gesture have since become a recognizable joke about invisibility that continues to live on social media and gaming platforms.

Much like how Biel’s six-year-old son reacted to the phrase, John Cena’s most famous catchphrase has now found a new audience. His successful transition into mainstream acting, with roles such as Peacemaker and appearances in the Fast & Furious saga, has kept Cena highly visible in the pop culture spotlight, ensuring the joke remains relevant.

Fans can catch the wrestler-actor as Sean Walker, a spy and former soldier, in Matchbox: The Movie, set to release on October 9, 2026, on Apple TV.
