Grown Ups 3 Gets Great Filming Update From Chris Rock, Release Date Window Confirmed

The Grown Ups gang is getting ready for another round of comedy. The third film is now moving toward its release. Chris Rock has provided a new update on its progress.

The American comedian confirmed the news during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He also revealed the film could hit screens “probably next summer,” pointing to a summer 2027 release window. Netflix hasn’t announced the release date yet.

Chris Rock’s Grown Ups 3 update comes as the comedy cast reunites

Rock discussed the sequel after Fallon brought up his recent courtside appearance with Adam Sandler. The two actors have remained friends since starring together in the Grown Ups films, and their latest collaboration reunites them with several other franchise members.

Rock said, “We are shooting Grown Ups 3 right now, to be out probably next summer.” The comedian then teased about the atmosphere on set. He said, “We’re all back together.” Rock followed that by describing the film as “really funny” and saying, “We’re having a great time.”

Rock also expressed what it was like to spend time with the ensemble again. When Fallon asked if he was enjoying the reunion, the actor replied, “It’s fun hanging out with everybody.”

The franchise began with Grown Ups in 2010 and continued with the sequel in 2013. Both films followed a group of childhood friends as their reunions turned into comedic adventures involving their families and old friendships.

The upcoming film marks the latest reunion of the Grown Ups franchise cast. Sandler, Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, and Rob Schneider return, while Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, and Salma Hayek Pinault also reprise their roles. The new cast members include Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, Jake Goldberg, and Bailee Madison.

Kyle Newacheck directs the third installment, with Sandler and Tim Herlihy writing the screenplay. The film continues the story with the friends at a different stage of their lives, as their children have now grown older.

With production complete, Grown Ups 3 can now enter post-production ahead of its expected summer 2027 release.
