Olivia O’Brien calls Pete Davidson an “absolute joke” after he criticized women influencers
Davidson shared his thoughts on influencers in an interview with Variety. He said, “It’s bad, and it makes me sad, you know. And girls are just talking to themselves on there, and they’re like, ‘OK, come get ready with me.’ And I’m like, ‘Who the f*ck are you? What do you do? Nothing. What the f*ck is this?’”
He added that influencers make “40 million a year,” while “the world is broke.”
Following his remarks, the comedian faced backlash online. Content creator Rachel Lowenstein slammed Davidson in an Instagram post. One slide read, “less about influencer culture and more about his disdain for women particularly.”
Another slide featured a photograph of Davidson with famous exes including Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Kate Beckinsale, and Margaret Qualley. It read, “Pete Davidson’s cultural capital has been generated less by his talent as a comedian and more by his proximity to famous women.”
As per BuzzFeed, the final slide read, “A man whose whole career was built on women’s attention thinks women chasing other women’s attention is embarrassing.”
O’Brien, who reportedly dated Davidson in 2020, commented on the creator’s post. She wrote, “I was dating him in 2020 and found out we were no longer together by seeing on Snapchat Daily Mail that he went public with a more famous woman lma*oo. He is an absolute joke of a human being.”
One user replied to her comment saying they had a similar experience. O’Brien responded, “sounds about exactly right,” and added, “not sure how he has the time considering we were texting 24 hours a day and falling asleep on FaceTime when we weren’t together, busy boy! lmf*o.”
Her comments added another layer to the backlash Davidson faced over his remarks.
