Alison Hammond reassured viewers after an unexpected health scare forced her to leave This Morning during a live broadcast.
The presenter later said hospital tests had not found problems with her heart, lungs or bloodwork. Hammond believed the episode had been a severe panic attack and said she planned to learn more about what happened.
This Morning host Alison Hammond shared an update after suddenly walking off the show
Hammond addressed the health crisis on Instagram Stories on October 3, one day after she abruptly left This Morning.
“I’m just getting in touch to let you all know that I’m home, I’m safe, and I’m feeling so much better,” she said.
Hammond thanked National Health Service staff for examining her after the incident. She said the medical checks had come back clear.
“I’m all okay,” Hammond said. “It’s all clear, which would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. I mean, the shame of it. But it felt very real to me.”
As per E! News, the experience caught Hammond off guard because she had little familiarity with panic attacks.
“I’m really new to panic attacks,” she said, “so I need to learn more about it.”
The live TV incident happened during the October 2 episode of This Morning. Hammond had been presenting alongside Dermot O’Leary when she suddenly rushed off camera.
O’Leary told viewers that Hammond felt “a little unwell” before continuing the program without her.
Hammond later posted from a hospital bed and told followers that doctors were checking her heart. At that stage, she said she hoped a panic attack had caused the episode rather than another medical problem.
Her next health update confirmed that the tests had not identified an issue with her heart or lungs.
Hammond also thanked her colleagues and viewers for supporting her after the incident. She specifically praised O’Leary for helping her through the situation.
“Dermot, who’s just been incredible,” she said.
The Great British Baking Show co-host said she had not expected the incident to attract wider attention. She planned to rest before returning to work.
“I’m gonna take stock, get some rest, and I’ll see you soon,” Hammond said.
