Ashley Tisdale has kept much of her personal life private since opening up about her experience with a former group of mom friends. Now, her husband Christopher French is sharing his perspective. He says he supports her while letting her handle the situation herself.
Ashley Tisdale’s husband explains why he supports her without ‘speaking for her’
Christopher French has made it clear that he stands firmly behind Ashley Tisdale as she navigates the fallout from her former mom group. Speaking to Page Six, the musician said he trusts his wife to handle her own relationships and decisions.
“We’re doing fine,” French said this week. “She’s a super smart, capable person, and she knows what she’s doing and that’s part of what I love about her.” Tisdale addressed the situation in a January The Cut essay. She revealed she had moved on from a group of mom friends she met after her oldest daughter was born in 2021. She described the friendships as “toxic” and detailed what she viewed as exclusion and other instances of betrayal.
Tisdale said she was done with the group’s “mean girl behavior” and ended the group. She wrote, “This is too high school for me.” French supported her decision without getting involved, though he has addressed the mom group drama before. “I will say, I have no problem supporting my wife completely in her ability to deal with her own interpersonal relationships in whatever way feels is right for her, without getting involved or feeling like I have to speak for her,” he said.
The situation has also drawn responses from people connected to the former group. Hilary Duff previously criticized parts of Tisdale’s essay, saying, “It sucks to read something that’s, like, not true.” Tisdale has since appeared on French’s podcast, where they discussed some of the more personal issues surrounding the situation.
French also discussed Tisdale’s struggles with postpartum depression. He noted that her usual coping tools did not always work. Through it all, he has made it clear that he supports Tisdale while she handles the situation her own way.
