Mario Lopez found himself answering some very awkward questions after taking his teenage daughter to an Usher and Chris Brown concert. The 52-year-old actor brought Gia, 16, along for a dad-daughter night that quickly sparked debate online.
Lopez shared footage from the Los Angeles show, where Usher performed his 1997 hit “Nice & Slow.” The Saved by the Bell alum appeared to enjoy the outing, even as fans wondered whether Gia had seen more than expected.
Lopez laughed after followers warned that Gia may have seen plenty during the Usher and Chris Brown concert
The Daily Mail reported that Lopez captioned his Instagram post, “Dad-daughter date night, round 2: Usher & Chris Brown! Had a blast with my Gigi… even if I embarrassed her a little.” The concert came during the singers’ R&B Tour, which fans described as risqué. One follower joked, “Ain’t no way I’d be singing that song with my daddy on my arm,” while another warned, “You’re brave because most of that concert is X-rated, lol.”
Another parent shared a particularly candid experience with Lopez. “Now Mario, I took my 16yr old son and was directly in front of Usher’s section,” the commenter wrote. They added that their son “saw everything but a tt and a clt.” Lopez appeared to understand the predicament. He replied, “Oh, I know exactly how you felt,” alongside a crying-laughing emoji.
Other commenters warned that some moments might have required strategic eye-covering. One said there were “definitely some parts that you had to cover her eyes,” while another simply mentioned “all that humping.” A different follower admitted they would not want to attend a Chris Brown concert with their dad.
Still, the comments were not entirely critical. Several fans praised Lopez for spending time with his daughter and called him an involved father. Gia also shared outtakes from the night, captioning them, “keeping it breezy in LA #chrisbrown #usher #snoop #rnbtour.”
The concert followed a Lopez family getaway in Costa Rica. Lopez shares Gia and sons Dominic, 13, and Santino, seven, with wife Courtney. Before the show, Lopez joked that Gia might regret giving him “two chances to embarrass her in one weekend.” He had recently celebrated her 16th birthday, calling her “smart, kind, funny & strong” and saying he could not have been prouder.
