Todd Blanche Defends Donald Trump’s Press Ban: White House Access Is ‘a Privilege’

Donald Trump‘s AG, Todd Blanche, recently defended the President‘s latest media ban. Trump announced on September 18 that he is imposing a ban on three big media outlets: CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, from covering the White House. However, a federal judge later temporarily blocked the ban.

AG Todd Blanche recently sat down for an interview with ABC News, where he commented on the ban Donald Trump imposed on the media.

According to a report by The Hill, Attorney General Blanche explained that the outlets CNN, MS NOW, and Politico’s reporting on the President was emerging as a threat to national security. However, he said Trump “hasn’t denied access” to those outlets entirely.

Blanche also added that calling the order a “ban” is “not the right way to describe it.” He doubled down on what Trump feels about the outlets and said, “This is what the president has said –– is that he is sick and tired of certain media outlets just refusing to report accurate news.”

Blanche further claimed that Trump’s decision resulted from “years and years of one-sided media coverage,” which, in his words, was unfair to the people of the country. He also suggested that having access to cover the White House was a privilege given to the press.

Hence, according to Blanche, Trump had the right to ban media in the White House if he felt they were spreading misinformation. In a post on Truth Social, Trump called out CNN and other media outlets as “fake news.” He further wrote, “Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”
