The mystery deepens as Toby Sawyer uncovers the town’s buried secrets

In The Deputy, the mystery deepens as Toby uncovers the town’s buried secrets. Toby’s frantic search to find the missing corpse opens up a massive Pandora’s box, unearthing decades of small-town corruption, human smuggling, and several dirty fellow cops.

Digging into the missing body, the scale of the mystery continues to grow as Toby stumbles upon physical, decades-old evidence of a massive local criminal enterprise. This includes a truck packed with undocumented immigrants and a freezer stuffed with hidden cash.

The mystery intensifies from an external criminal investigation into a paranoid internal threat when Toby realizes the conspiracy reaches the highest levels of local law enforcement. Fellow officers who have spent years looking the other way, particularly Deputy Billy Banks (Stephen Dorff), actively pressure and threaten Toby to ignore his findings and abandon the case.

As Toby struggles to identify who he can actually trust, ultimately finding his only real ally in Deputy Amanda Jackson (Haddish), he finds himself in the crosshairs of multiple dangerous factions, including feuding, vengeful siblings who blame him for the chaos.

Directed by Matt Sukkar, The Deputy is now playing in select theaters and on digital demand platforms.
