Yet, a source cited by Rob Shuter’s Substack claims that several key figures have chosen to stay away from the project. Among them are Diana’s sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.
Their absence, the source suggests, carries weight. “Diana’s own sisters saying no sends an enormous message,” the insider told the outlet. “Nobody has to threaten anyone. People understand the consequences: help Harry tell his version of Diana’s story and the palace door could slam shut.”
Many of Diana’s former friends reportedly still feel warmly toward Harry. However, their long-standing ties to William, King Charles, and the broader royal institution appear to complicate any decision to participate. A royal source described the situation as an unwanted choice. “Nobody wants to choose between Diana’s sons,” the source said, adding that appearing in the film would likely be read as taking sides.
The tension between Prince William and Harry regarding the Diana documentary is also said to stem from William’s own sense of ownership over their mother’s legacy. According to the insider, William believes Diana was his mother as much as Harry’s. As a result, he is not willing to let his brother alone shape how she is remembered.
