Tom Cruise has expressed his excitement about working with Anne Hathaway in Days of Thunder 2. The actor also offered a glimpse into what fans can expect from the highly anticipated sequel.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cruise said he can’t wait to work alongside Hathaway. “Boy, that woman’s talented!” the actor said. “I really admire her.”
While discussing their upcoming collaboration on Days of Thunder 2, Cruise added, “We have a really fun story.” The Digger star recalled telling Hathaway, “I’ve got a great character I’ve created for you. You’re going to crush it.”
What else do we know about Days of Thunder 2 so far?
Days of Thunder 2 will see Tom Cruise reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle from the original 1990 sports action movie. In August, Paramount Pictures announced that Anne Hathaway had joined the cast, along with an Instagram video featuring her and Cruise engaging in a witty exchange as they pose with a NASCAR race car.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight just days ago, Hathaway gave an update on when the filming for Days of Thunder 2 will begin. The actress, who is currently pregnant with her third child, said she’ll take a break after the release of her latest movie, Verity.
“The movie comes out October 2nd, and on October 3rd, I’m going to, like, vanish in a plume of smoke, and you’re not going to see me until you have to. So, I’m definitely gonna disappear, take some time off,” Hathaway shared. “But then, yes, I’m joining Tom on the track in March.”
Besides Cruise and Hathaway, Paramount Pictures has not announced any additional cast members for Days of Thunder 2. The much-awaited movie will be directed by Jonathan Levine, with Will Staples penning the screenplay.
Days of Thunder 2 is set to release on June 2, 2028
