The President recently attended an event at the Pentagon to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks. However, videos from the event showcase a particular moment. In it, Trump is seated next to Melania Trump, dozing off while the names of the victims were being taken. Soon, the clip went viral on social media. Many internet users criticized the US President for allegedly sleeping at such an important event.
Kimmel referred to this and said, “At the event, Teddy Doze-evelt got in a pretty good nap,” he added. “He was sleeping so much on camera, the White House had to put out a statement that said he wasn’t asleep.” He even referred to the ‘Sleepy Joe’ nickname that Trump gave to former US President Joe Biden to mock his age. Kimmel stated, “The guy who spent four years screaming, ‘Sleepy Joe, Sleepy Joe,’ constantly falling asleep on camera.”
A White House spokesperson later addressed the video and told The Independent that Trump was “solemnly listening.” Jimmy Kimmel used the statement to mock Donald Trump’s marriage. The host suggested that his wife Melania makes a similar kind of move when she hears Trump “crawl into bed with her.”
After the clips of the event spread online, many users also alleged that Trump sounded exhausted in his speech.
