Charles Spencer shared three photos of himself posing with his upcoming Princess Diana book, calling it a “simple tribute.” Scheduled for release in the UK on September 22, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister” is a heartfelt book about the late Princess Diana, who passed away in a tragic car accident in 1997.
Charles Spencer calls new Princess Diana book his ‘most personal’ work in new update
Days before the release of his book about his sister, Charles Spencer shared a sweet post on social media. He wrote, “Always an amazing, and exhilarating, moment for an author to hold the first physical copy of a new book – and even more so for me with ‘Swan Song’, the most personal of the ten books I’ve written over the past three decades. At heart, this is a brother’s simple tribute to an extraordinary sister.”
Spencer, already a Sunday Times best-selling author, also said that he had recorded an audiobook a few days ago. “A month ago I read ‘Swan Song’ out, over three days, for a recording so that it could be available on audiobook,” he added. “When I finished the recording, I thought: ‘That is exactly what I wanted and needed to say – and she would, I reckon, have approved of every word.'”
The book will chronicle Princess Diana’s early life, marriage to the now-King Charles, and her unfortunate demise. In a press release (via PEOPLE), Spencer said, “The aim of this book is to tell the truth about Diana from her brother’s perspective, just as I attempted to do when speaking at her funeral. As with my eulogy, I want to speak on Diana’s behalf and do so in an openly positive way.”
Prince Harry is expected to support his uncle. He visited the Althorp Estate with his family this summer to visit his mother’s grave. Princess Diana’s resting place is on an island away from public view. Spencer also lives on the same estate.
