Fargo Star Steve Buscemi’s 94%-Rated Movie Hits Paramount+ Today

One of Steve Buscemi‘s most celebrated films is now streaming on Paramount+. The film received widespread critical acclaim upon release, though it had a modest box-office run.

The Death of Stalin first hit theaters in 2017 and remains one of the most iconic political satires of the previous decade. The black comedy political satire is available to Paramount+’s Premium subscribers and holds a 94% Tomatometer score and a 79% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The wild comedy connection between The Death of Stalin & Paddington 4

Armando Iannucci co-wrote and directed The Death of Stalin, an adaptation of the French graphic novel La Mort de Staline by Fabien Nury and Thierry Robin. Iannucci has also been tapped to pen the next installment in the Paddington franchise, where he will once again be working with his long-time collaborator, Simon Blackwell.

Blackwell and Iannucci have previously worked together on several projects, including Veep, The Thick of It, and In the Loop. The duo is currently in the process of developing the film with StudioCanal. As per Variety, Dougal Wilson is in talks to return for his second film in the franchise. It makes sense, given that the 2024 feature was not only critically acclaimed but was able to bring in $211 million against its ~$90 million budget.

StudioCanal top brass had revealed during CinemaCon that the studio has hired “world-renowned comedy writers” to write the film, and Blackwell and Iannucci definitely fit that mold.

The Death of Stalin has a star-studded cast to back it up, with several well-known actors in key roles. The cast includes Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale, Paddy Considine, Rupert Friend, Jason Isaacs, Olga Kurylenko, and Michael Palin, among others.
