Sandra Bullock Reveals How Her Children Made a Cameo in Practical Magic 2

Sandra Bullock has opened up about how Practical Magic 2 ended up having a cameo by her children. The latest sequel movie comes almost 28 years after the original and reunites Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the Owens sisters.

Talking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Bullock recently revealed the entire story of how her children made their unique appearance in Practical Magic 2.

When asked if they have cameos in the film, she replied, “They are in voice and in spirit. And their voice is because I recorded, like, as most parents nowadays, you can record anything that they do.”

The Practical Magic 2 moment that made the cameo so personal

Sandra Bullock went on to explain the exact moment in Practical Magic 2 that turned her children’s cameos into something memorable.

She talked about a certain scene in the movie “where my character, who’s cut herself off because she could sense people before and sense her children, but she has since made a spell so her children don’t remember their magic because she feels like it brings too much tragedy. So, she’s blocked as well. So, she just wants normalcy, wants a normal life.”

Her character, Sally Owens, then goes to a professor “who’s known for his spiritual, magical powers, and he unblocks people. So, he unblocks me—Sally, not me—and the first thing that we hear, and they were like, ‘Well, what should it be? Should it be the ancestors?’ And I was like, ‘No. First thing I hear always are my babies. You always hear the babies.'”

“So I was like, ‘Let’s chronologically play my kids as much as we can throughout, you know, up to a certain age as we have time for in the film.’ So that’s where they are.”

Practical Magic 2’s cast also features Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod.

The film will be released in theaters on September 11, 2026.
