Inside Mckenna Grace & Mason Thames’ Nimrods
The film follows Tommy (Thames) receiving a fake phone call about his band getting invited to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Believing his life is about to change, Tommy, along with his friends, takes a trip to Los Angeles full of adventures, based on the exploits of Green Day and their years of living in a tour van. As the premise suggests, the real-life Green Day band also makes an appearance in the film.
Besides Grace and Thames, the film stars Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Ignacio Diaz- Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn. It is written and directed by Lee Kirk. It was produced by Tim Perell for Process, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool. Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino for Live Nation Studios and Jonathan Daniel serve as executive producers. Nimrods comes from Inaugural Entertainment, in collaboration with Legion M and Live Nation Studios.
Grace will be next seen in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, releasing later this year. Thames is known for starring in franchises such as The Blake Phone and How to Train Your Dragon. He will be next seen in the latter’s sequel in 2027.
Nimrods grossed over $1.2 million at the global box office. Kirk had previously worked with Green Day lead singer Armstrong on 2016’s Ordinary World.
