Casey shared the heartbreaking news on September 8. However, he did not disclose when exactly their father, Timothy, born March 21, 1950, passed away. The family had already suffered a loss earlier this year when their mother, Chris Anne, died in June at 83 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Casey said he wished his parents had been able to see his film, which he directed, co-wrote, and starred in, before they passed away. The 51-year-old expressed, as reported by Page Six, “It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.”

He further added, “I really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn’t get to. I think they would have liked it.” “The good thing about being an artist, the best thing maybe, is that you can take all of the hardest experiences in your life and put them into your work, and it just makes you better,” he said. Casey’s two sons, Indiana, 22, and Atticus, 18, also have roles in Company. He shares both sons with his ex-wife, Summer Phoenix.

His father worked as a janitor, mechanic, and bartender before later focusing on his recovery from alcoholism. He separated from his wife in 1984 after facing several personal challenges, including severe alcoholism. Ben spoke about his father during a February 2020 interview with People. The actor said, “Part of being an adult is learning that your parents are just people. They’re not perfect. They were just doing their best. As [children], we expect perfection out of our parents.”
