Corey Lewandowski faces serious new allegations about his time at the Department of Homeland Security. A new report alleges that the longtime Trump ally used his government connections for personal financial gain. The alleged actions reportedly confused foreign officials who already had established government contacts. Lewandowski, however, strongly denies any wrongdoing.
Corey Lewandowski accused of trying to profit from government services
According to The Wall Street Journal, Lewandowski approached senior Qatari officials with an unusual proposal while serving as a special government employee at DHS. The report says he offered to help Qatar with issues that fell under the department’s control, including visas. The outlet said that Lewandowski had made a similar offer to officials from the United Arab Emirates. The report claimed that he tried to make personal gains by providing access to government services.
The Journal said several Qatari and UAE officials felt “stunned” and confused by the alleged offers. They reportedly already had normal working relationships with other senior Trump administration officials. According to the report, both countries rejected Lewandowski’s proposals. The alleged efforts took place while Lewandowski held significant influence inside DHS.
It was also reported that DHS’ internal watchdog launched an investigation into an alleged enrichment scheme. Investigators reportedly found evidence suggesting Lewandowski “may have been involved in improperly awarding government contracts.” A representative for Lewandowski denied the allegations. The representative said he never sought “any payment or compensation” from government contractors or solicited contracts with foreign governments while volunteering at DHS.
Lewandowski served as a special government employee at DHS from April 2025 through March 2026 while Kristi Noem led the agency. The Journal described him as a powerful behind-the-scenes figure, often called a “shadow secretary.” During their time at the department, Lewandowski and Noem had a close working relationship. TMZ recently spotted the pair having lunch together in Minnesota.
