Julie Chen Moonves questioned one of Rick Devens’ riskiest decisions on Big Brother Season 28 after he voluntarily put himself in danger of eviction.
The longtime Big Brother host reacted to Devens offering himself as a nominee and admitted the gamble could have ended his game if he had failed to win the BB Block Buster.

Devens voluntarily went on the block during a critical point in Big Brother 28. His decision left his survival dependent on the BB Block Buster competition.
When Entertainment Weekly asked Chen Moonves about the move, she made her reaction clear.
“I thought: Wow, this could be the worst game move ever… had he lost the Block Buster,” she said.
The gamble ultimately worked because Devens survived the competition, but Julie Chen Moonves believed the choice could have produced a very different outcome.
Earlier in the game, Dee Valladares had also protected Devens. Chen Moonves said Dee made the right decision when she saved him, especially after Devens previously used the Diamond Power of Veto to protect her.
“Dee did the respectable and right thing in saving Devens,” Chen Moonves said. “She had to for the sake of appearances to others, and he used the Diamond Power of Veto to save her a few weeks ago.”
The host also reflected on Lala’s eviction and praised what she brought to the season. Chen Moonves highlighted Lala’s Head of Household Wall competition victory and her ability to turn confusion into part of her strategy.
“She made me so proud as a fellow female in her 50s!” Chen Moonves said.
Meanwhile, Chen Moonves did not agree with Jay Mohr’s prediction that Dee had become nearly impossible to beat.
She pointed to Dee’s growing target and suggested that her relationships with potential jury members could create problems later.
“No. She has a huge target on her back and many future members of the Jury not loving her,” Chen Moonves said.
For Rick Devens, however, the most immediate danger came from his own willingness to volunteer for the block, a decision that Chen Moonves believed could have become one of the season’s biggest mistakes.
