Meghan Markle’s First Emotional Post After UK Return Is Deeply Personal

Meghan Markle paid a heartfelt tribute to feminist icon Gloria Steinem in her first Instagram post since returning to the UK. The Duchess of Sussex shared a wholesome three-photo carousel accompanied by a touching note dedicated to Steinem.

However, the choice of soundtrack also caught attention, with Markle pairing the post with Dolly Parton’s “Just Because I’m a Woman.” Given Parton’s passing on August 25, the song choice appears to have been Markle’s way of honoring two influential women and feminist icons in a single tribute.

Meghan honored her late friend and mentor Gloria Steinem in a deeply personal Instagram tribute

Meghan Markle paid tribute to the late feminist pioneer and her friend Gloria Steinem with a heartfelt Instagram post. In the first photo of the carousel, Markle shared a long shot of the two women chatting beneath a tree as they basked in the warm sunlight.

The second image showed Steinem lovingly caressing a young boy, whose face was covered with a white heart. The child appeared to be Prince Archie. The final photo was a black-and-white snap of the two women posing together.

The Duchess of Sussex penned: “Celebrating the life and legacy of my friend and mentor, Gloria Steinem. And also grateful to know that in these last few weeks and days she knew exactly how loved and admired she was.”

In the second paragraph, Markle recalled Steinem’s words of wisdom: “We are linked, not ranked,” while revealing that she still wears the “bracelet” gifted to her by the late feminist icon with “pride.”

In the following paragraphs, the former actress opened up about her close bond with Steinem, both in public and behind the scenes. Markle recalled privately spending Thanksgiving with her family and described how Steinem showered her children with love.

The “Suits” star also revealed that Steinem offered her gentle words of wisdom whenever she was navigating difficult moments. “Giving extraordinary advice and perspective with a cup of tea and an unrivaled cheekiness and wit,” Markle added.

The Duchess of Sussex concluded her lengthy tribute with an equally touching personal message for her late friend and mentor. Markle ended the post with: “Rest in peace, and rest in pride. Look at what you’ve done for all of us. Thank you.”
