Heated Rivalry Season 2 is bringing more familiar faces into its hockey world. Milla Jovovich, Kevin Zegers, and Paul Gross have joined the cast. The actors will take on key roles in the second season of the hit romance series. Season 2 is currently in production and is set to premiere in spring 2027 on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the United States.
Jovovich will play Dr. Galina Molchalina, a Russian therapist who works with Ilya Rozanov. Zegers will portray Coach Brandon Wiebe, a former professional hockey player who takes over as head coach of the Ottawa Centaurs. Gross will join as Commissioner Roger Crowell, a major figure in the hockey league.
Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie are returning as Shane and Ilya. The pair became fan favorites following the first season’s success. However, Season 2 will introduce new characters and storylines, giving the hockey drama a wider scope.
What to expect from Heated Rivalry Season 2
Season 2 will continue Shane and Ilya’s romance while exploring the challenges surrounding their careers. Their relationship has become more serious, but keeping it private remains difficult. The pressure from their professional lives could put their relationship to the test.
The second season will be based on The Long Game, the sixth novel in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series. The story picks up several years after the events of Season 1. Shane and Ilya have grown older and more established, but they still face difficult choices about their future together.
The new characters could also play an important role in their journey. Dr. Galina may provide a closer look at Ilya’s emotional struggles. Coach Wiebe could influence his career as a player. Commissioner Crowell may bring fresh conflict to the hockey world.
Additionally, the season draws from the book Role Model. It may also incorporate elements from the third book, Tough Guy, based on the casting of Daniel Diemer and Shaheen Jafargholi.
The returning ensemble includes Sophie Nélisse, François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. With new and returning characters joining the story, Heated Rivalry Season 2 is set to expand the romance and hockey drama that made the first season popular.
