Fortitude has dropped its official trailer. The video offers the first glimpse into the upcoming spy action thriller starring Nicolas Cage. The trailer comes just months after a hard drive containing the movie was stolen from Netflix’s Los Angeles office. Writer Simon Afram has sued Netflix, accusing the company of being responsible for the theft.
Fortitude is an upcoming historical spy action-adventure film directed by Simon West. The movie is based on the incredible real-life story of the British Intelligence operatives during World War II. Cage plays the Serbian spy Duško Popov, who inspired the James Bond novels.
Most recently, the movie gained attention after screenwriter Simon Afram filed a $105 million lawsuit against Netflix in July. Afram complained that the company was responsible for the theft of a hard drive containing an unencrypted master copy of the film. He also accused Netflix of compromising the sale of the film and its release strategy.
“Netflix disputes any claim that it bears the risk of loss for a film delivered without the proper industry-standard safeguards,” the company responded.

What happens in Fortitude trailer?
The Fortitude trailer introduces Ed Skrein and Matthew Goode as Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll “Tar” Robertson. These British Army officers were the brains behind the most elaborate web of deception ever orchestrated by British Intelligence to get the best of the Nazi leadership.
With the support of Winston Churchill, Ian Fleming, and a network of double agents, the British Army created an incredible plan to fool the Nazis leading up to D-Day. One of the double agents was Duško Popov (Nicolas Cage). He later became the inspiration for Fleming’s James Bond novels.
Additionally, the trailer features a collage of vignettes, showcasing some of the movie’s tense and thrilling scenes. Other notable cast members of Fortitude include Alice Eve, Michael Sheen, Ben Kingsley, Jordi Mollà, Art Malik, and more.
